More on Pay per post
By Mike DavisonInteresting article from the WSG about Apogee and its strategy of paying bloggers to create buzz about the service. They’ve seen a spike in web hits from using paid posts to drive traffic to the site and typically spend roughly $10 per post. The good thing is that Apogee don’t specify the posts be positive (although apparently you can order this when using one of the pay per services). They also admit disclosure is a little hot and miss at times, particularly by new recruits.
Overall, this still chafes. Pay per post can easily reduce the sanctity of the voice remunerated - esp if disclosure is not apparent. It fills the gap left by customers and prospects who should be encouraged to talk more through service innovation and inspired customer engagement. My feeling is that it’s never worked offline either.
