Awesome Tour of Sydney launches in style, despite English rain

By Molly Flatt

Saturday saw 1000heads’ launch event for Tourism New South Wales‘ Awesome Tour of Sydney kick off at the King’s Arms in Wandsworth. We’ve set 12 outspoken individuals with a range of interests in social media a series of creative challenges over the next six weeks, each of which ties in with a particular aspect of life Sydneyside. In a lovely bit of synergy, another of our clients, STA Travel, is providing the best of the twelve with two flights to Sydney and accommodation for them and a friend, plus the same package for a member of their community – a social media twist which ensures that the project brings value to their wider network too.

We had a great turn out and the enthusiastic travellers were briefed on the first challenge – to come up with a table-top variant of an Australian sport. Our own idea, Sydney Cricket, was offered as inspiration and taken up with relish (particularly by the Irish contingent). And while the abysmal weather meant there was no Ashes cricket being shown to help foster the mood, the torrential rain did nothing to dampen spirits, with the BBQ and bar tab going down nicely. It became clear as the the crew got to know one another that there will be some fierce competition for those tickets, and I’m sure we’ll see some outstanding, highly creative content generated over the next six weeks.

If the Awesome Tour sounds like your cup of tea, let us know – we may be able to squeeze you in if you feel up to the challenge.

“Outspoken individuals”?? I thougyht we were the more shy, retiring types. :)

This is going to be a lot of fun. Thanks for a great day, btw.
